The Bureau of Indian Affairs was created in 1824 to regulate contacts between Indians and settlers. It is the oldest bureau of the United States Department of the Interior. Indian Agents were appointed by the President with approval of the Senate. Most agents reported to superintendents, others reported directly to the central office in Washington, D.C. and relied on local military posts for law enforcement as it related to Indians.

Each high quality Old West replica badge is crafted out of brass and steel. They are double-stamped then silver plated. Next, each Old West replica badge is individually hand finished for a unique antique look.
